A qualitative research on the characterization of visiting healthcare in public health centers: identification of characteristics, service process and recipient change

Abstract
Objectives: The purpose of this study is to investigate the characteristics of visiting healthcare services through the interview of focus group with the provider, the collaborator and the recipient.

Methods: The study group consisted of 8 groups and 6 individual interviews with total of 67 participants, including 55 healthcare providers, 6 collaborators, and 6 recipients in one city. From October to December 2013, Interviews were conducted.

Results: We identified 11 categories and three theme areas. Visiting healthcare recipients are those of the homebound type, low knowledge level type, despair type, and domestic problem type. For these recipients, the visiting nurses identify the recipients status and the cause of the current health condition. It is found that professional trust is formed by carrying out customized intervention. As a result, it was confirmed that the recipient mind is opened and the willingness is formed, showing the effect of the improvement of the health problem.

Conculsions: As results of this study, It is necessary to develop a variety of educational materials and to strengthen the linkage between community organizations and resources and to improve the employment stability of visiting healthcare project personnels.
